Map Functions
Changing map type
Once you view an event, there will be an option to alter the map type to suit your preferences.
Choose between Dark Map
Light Map
Satellite Map
The ‘Locations Labels’ toggle, when switched on, will overlay the location data such as street and city names above other layers such as imagery.
Altering the map layout
a) To alter the map view, there are icons on the right-hand tool bar under ‘Layout’ which allow you to change your map view of the event to suit your preferred analysis.
b) Simply click on the icons to change the map view.
The different views include:
Single Map View
Single map view of everything.
Dual Map View
Two maps showing the same area alongside each other. You can have different map styles and layers on either side to suit your preferred analysis.
Slider Map View
This creates a slider within the map which you can click use to drag left or right to uncover a new view or layer (useful when looking at before and after imagery).
To set a layer on a particular side of the map (only for dual and slider map layouts):
First click the ‘Layer’ icon on the right-hand side menu.
Select a drop-down button on the layer you want to edit.
The example below shows the effect of changing the visible side a single exposure layer.
Select the three dots next to any sublayer to bring up a pop up with options of “Left”, “Both” or “Right”.
To zoom into a layer, specific feature, or piece of imagery on the map, select the ‘Go To’ button for that layer.
You can also change the map type between satellite, light map, and dark map at each of the bottom left and right corners
Layer Filters
Click the ‘Layer’ icon on the right-hand side menu bar to bring up all the different main layers and imagery available for that event.
Locate the main layer of interest and click on the drop-down button to the left-hand side of the layer. This will show all the sublayers and features that can be displayed on this layer.
To make a whole layer including all the sublayers and features visible or invisible, you can collapse and expand all the layer by clicking on either the double caret or double caron symbols.
To improve clarity on that specific layer, we remind you that you might want to turn off other layers so that your selected layer is the only layer that is showing. Alternatively, you can turn off some different features so that you can focus on the ones that you require.
The other key main layers that can be turned off and on are as follows:
· Claims
· Exposure
· Imagery (Depicted as Resolution and Type)
