The articles in this collection describe how GEO gets used day to day by Claims, Exposure Management, and Underwriting teams. They sit above the feature-level articles elsewhere in this Help Center (Location Insights, Policy Insights, Oblique Imagery, and so on), which cover exactly how each part of GEO works. These three cover what to actually do with those features, in what order, and why.
Why it's split by team
Claims, Exposure Management, and Underwriting each use GEO with a different goal in mind, reserving and adjuster triage, portfolio and model work, risk selection, so the workflows are written separately rather than as one long generic document.
That said, most of our clients find these workflows aren't strictly siloed. A technique written up under one team often turns out to be useful for another, Damage Factors get used for both reserving and underwriting risk appetite, historic event comparisons matter to both Exposure Management and Underwriting, and Assessment Scales underpin every team's read of a damage grid. It's worth skimming all three even if only one describes your role.
The three workflows
[Claims Workflows on GEO] — reserving in the first days of an event, triaging and delegating adjusters, assessing individual locations, handling conflict-driven claims, and reviewing response accuracy after the fact.
[Exposure Management Workflows on GEO] — running layers in other platforms, treaty response, validating models against the historic archive, and separating out compound loss drivers like multi-peril hurricanes.
[Underwriting Workflows on GEO] — pre-event client warnings, offshore exposure, comparing your book against historic events, stress testing growth, and managing binding moratoriums.
Where to start if you're new
If you haven't set up email notifications, shared portfolio data with MIS, or configured Damage Factors yet, start with [Setting Up Email Notifications] and [Sharing Your Data with MIS] before working through any of the three workflow articles, they're written assuming that groundwork is already in place.
