The Impact Summary shows what's changed in an event report since the previous release iteration, so you can see how a portfolio's exposure has moved without pulling up two reports and comparing them by hand.

What the Impact Summary shows

The Impact card compares the current insights iteration against the previous one, and highlights the changes that matter most for assessing movement:

Metric

What it shows

Damage Adjusted Estimate

The previous and current estimate, with the value and percentage change between iterations

Total Estimated Exposure

Change in total insured value within the event footprint

Total Exposed Policies

Change in the number of policies affected

Exposure Area Coverage

Change in the geographic area covered by the Exposure layer

Claims Area Coverage

Change in the geographic area covered by the Claims layer

Exposure Location Assessments

Change in the number of locations assessed against the Exposure layer

Claims Location Assessments

Change in the number of locations assessed against the Claims layer

Each card shows the absolute change and the percentage change, so you can quickly judge whether movement between iterations is significant.

How the comparison works

The Impact Summary always compares the current insights iteration against the one immediately before it for your selected portfolio and peril. The header shows the timestamp the comparison is measured from — for example, "Since 14th Jul 9:33am" — so you know exactly which two iterations are being compared.

A new comparison becomes available each time Insights re-runs for the event, whether that's triggered by an updated Exposure or Claims layer, or a portfolio data refresh.

Accessing the Impact Summary

The Impact Summary is on the Summary tab in the left sidebar of an event report, alongside Map, Locations, Policies, and Text Reports.

FAQ

Why is my percentage change so large?
Large percentage changes are common early in an event, when the first iteration is based on limited data and a later iteration brings in a fuller Claims or Exposure layer. Check the absolute value change alongside the percentage to judge real-world significance.

What counts as the "previous" iteration?
The most recent completed insights run before the current one, for the same portfolio and peril selection.

Does the Impact Summary include Pre-Event data?
No. The Impact Summary compares Exposure and Claims insights iterations. Pre-event forecast data is covered separately — see [Pre-Event Layers & Outlook].

Can I see the Impact Summary for a historic event?
Yes, if the event has more than one insights iteration on record.
