GEO lets you overlay your own location data directly onto an event map. This is useful for ad-hoc analysis — comparing a claims list against an event footprint, checking a new account's schedule against a past event, or visualising any location dataset alongside MIS layers.

What you can upload
GEO accepts two file formats:
CSV — must include columns named
LatandLong(in decimal degrees). You can include additional columns and they will be imported alongside the coordinates.GeoJSON — standard GeoJSON format.
Your CSV must have the following structure in the dataset:
Location, Latitude, Longitude
Additional columns are optional but supported:
Location, Latitude, Longitude, Condition Statue of Liberty, 40.689197, -74.044557, Good Empire State Building, 40.7484, -73.9857, Excellent
Coordinates must be in decimal degrees format (e.g. 40.689116, -74.044530).
How to upload
Open an event report.
Click the Overlay button on the layer toolbar.
Select your file and upload it.
Choose a layer name, layer type, and colour.
Click Submit.
Your data appears on the map as a new layer, plotted at the coordinates in your file.

Important: data is not stored
Your uploaded data is visible only to you, only in the browser you used to upload it, and only for the current session. GEO does not store your data. If you refresh the page, navigate away, or close the browser, the overlay is removed. You will need to re-upload your file the next time you want to view it.
This is intentional — it means your data never leaves your control and is never stored on MIS servers.
FAQ
My data uploaded but the points aren't showing on the map. What's wrong?
Check that your coordinates are in decimal degrees format and that the column headers are exactly Latitude and Longitude . Also confirm the coordinates are in the right location — if they're swapped (latitude where longitude should be), points may appear in an unexpected place.
Can I upload data to compare against any event, including historic ones?
Yes. The upload feature works on any event report, including historic events in the archive.
Can colleagues see my uploaded data?
No. Uploaded data is visible only to you in your current browser session.
Is there a file size limit?
GEO handles typical schedules and claims files without issues. Very large files (tens of thousands of rows) may take a moment to render. If you encounter problems with large files, contact [email protected].
