GEO can send you email alerts when MIS publishes or updates an event. You control which peril types and regions trigger a notification, so you only hear about events relevant to your portfolio.
How notifications work
By default, GEO sends one email per event — when MIS first publishes it. You can also turn on continual updates, which sends a new email each time an event is updated, for example when new imagery is added or the Claims Layer is revised. This is useful during active, fast-moving events.

Setting your notification preferences
Click your initials in the top-right corner of GEO.
Select View Profile.
Go to the Notifications section.
Select the peril types you want to be notified about — for example, Hurricane, Flood, or Wildfire.
Select the regions you want to cover — for example, North America or Europe.
To receive updates throughout an event (not just the first alert), turn on Notify me when events are updated with more details, including imagery.
Click Save.

Notification options at a glance
Setting | What it does |
Peril type | Filters alerts to only the event types you select |
Region | Filters alerts to only the geographies you select |
Continual updates | Sends a new email each time an event is updated, not just on first publication |
If you leave all peril types and regions selected, you will receive alerts for every event MIS publishes globally.
FAQ
I'm not receiving any notifications even though I've set preferences.
Check your spam or junk folder — GEO alerts sometimes land there on first send. Add the MIS sender address to your safe senders list to prevent this. Or please get in touch with your IT team to get our emails whitelisted.
Can I get notified only for events above a certain severity?
Not currently through notification settings. You can filter by impact level on the homepage, but notification filtering is by peril type and region only. We are working on this for the future.
I want continual updates for active events but not for new ones. Can I do that?
No — the continual updates setting applies to all events matching your peril and region preferences. You can turn it on during an active event season and off again afterwards. We are actively looking at improving this.
Can different people on my team have different notification settings?
Yes. Notification preferences are per account. Each user sets their own preferences independently.
