Layer

Role of Layer

How to interpret

Exposure Layer

(Approximate Damage, wide area)

Approximate early damage signals.

Broader damage assumptions across a wider areas.

Claims Layer

(Observed data averaged over 200m or 1km grid)

Provides a reliable average indication of damage severity, giving a trusted signal of relative impact rather than a definitive property-level classification. This is especially useful in areas where geocoding may not pinpoint the exact location.

The assessment is informed by observed data, such as imagery.

Factor in that it’s an average across many structures - the grid assessment might be more severe than the majority of the properties in that grid square.

Building Level

(Confirmed property-level assessments)

High confidence property level classification.

Reliable individual buildings damage assessment.

Exposure Layer - Within 24 hours

Claims Layer - Post 24 hours

Building Level - Post 72 hours
